Bananas and the Diabetic

by admin

If you are a diabetic, you may be concerned about how many calories in a banana are sugar related. You have good reason to be concerned, or at least know the facts. There are times when having a banana on hand could save you from a trip to the emergency ward. Many diabetics drink a glass of orange juice, often adding more sugar to it, when they feel a slip in their blood glucose level. Some will eat a candy bar. A banana can do the same thing either of these would do, and in some cases, much faster. While knowing how many calories in a banana will help you in a low blood sugar situation, you need to be aware of the sugar content when you are experiencing high blood sugar. Keep bananas on hand for a quick boost, but only eat them sparingly when you are not in need of a sugar rush.
